The history of memory

Every generation found a new way
to preserve the people they loved.

The Portrait
1400s – 1800s
Oil paintings preserved faces for the wealthy. A commission could take months. Only the powerful left a visual trace.
The Photograph
1839 – 1980s
Photography democratised memory. Suddenly everyone could preserve a moment. Weddings, graduations, ordinary Tuesdays — all frozen in time.
The Film
1890s – 2000s
Cine cameras preserved movement — how someone walked, laughed, gestured. For the first time, the dead could be seen in motion.
The Digital Life
2000s – Today
For the first time, we can preserve the whole person — their humour, values, music, stories, relationships, voice. Every dimension of a life, not just its surface.
We Loved Life
Now — Forever
The first place designed to hold all of it. Not a backup. Not a tool. A digital portrait — preserved so grandchildren you'll never meet can know exactly who you were.

Got questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free to start? +

Yes — completely free to start with no credit card required. You can add your stories, photos, music, contacts and life book straight away. Premium features like video storage and unlimited uploads are available on our paid plan.

Who can see my capsule? +

Only you — until you choose to share it. Your capsule is completely private by default. You can share it with family members at any time, or leave instructions for it to be passed on after you're gone.

What happens to my capsule when I die? +

Your capsule lives on. You can nominate an inheritor — a family member or trusted person — who will be given access when the time comes. Everything you've preserved will be there waiting for them, exactly as you left it.

Can I add videos and voice recordings? +

Yes. Video is one of the most powerful things you can leave behind — hearing your voice and seeing your face is something no photo can replace. Upload video messages directly from your phone or computer.

How is this different from Google Drive or iCloud? +

Google Drive is a file cabinet. We Loved Life is a portrait of a person. It's structured around your life — your stories, your music, your people, your wisdom — not folders and filenames. And crucially, it's designed to be discovered and understood by someone who never met you.

Can my family access it after I'm gone? +

That's exactly what it's built for. You nominate who gets access and when. They'll receive everything — your videos, photos, music, stories, life book and final words — preserved exactly as you left them.

Is my data safe and private? +

Yes. Your data is encrypted, stored securely and never sold or shared with third parties. We will never show you ads or use your personal content for any purpose other than delivering your capsule to the people you choose.

Can I export my Life Book as a real book? +

Yes. Your Life Book can be exported as a PDF, Word document or EPUB file — ready to publish on Amazon Kindle or print as a physical book. Write your autobiography chapter by chapter and leave it behind in print forever.

When we started, we offered the site free for the first 10,000 users. Well, that didn't take long — so we're extending it to the first 100,000 users. If you're reading this, you're still in.
